Indian test team is in a revival phase after the retirement of MS Dhoni. The team has lot to learn and evolve under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. World knows his aggressive attitude and Ravi Shastri has full support to his intent. The team might lose but their intent of winning is more important. Hopefully Virat's captaincy can change fortunes for this team that has lost too many matches abroad in test cricket.
Sans Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan team also looks pretty young. Their captain Angelo Mathews is in sparkling form as a skipper. He has performed better under pressure of captaincy. The biggest blow for Sri Lanka came in the form of Sangakkara's retirement. He will sign off from International cricket after second test.
Murali Vijay won't be a part of the first test playing XI as he hasn't yet recovered from injury. This gives Lokesh Rahul an opportunity to play for India. He did a decent job against Sri Lanka Board President's XI. The other two batsmen who impressed were Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane.
Virat Kohli has expressed his views over the bowling attack. He would love to play five specialist bowlers which would increase the pressure on the batting line up. Ashwin and Ishant are in good form. If Harbhajan gets going, India can do better in the island.
